What is the purpose of this new program?2020-04-27T12:43:20-04:00

To enable Member Stations to earn revenue and share in the success of the NPR Wine Club, by extending a special introductory offer to their listeners.

Why should our station participate?2020-04-27T12:43:33-04:00

The NPR Wine Club has been a popular and successful program since its launch in October 2018. As well as earning royalties on each new member you sign up, you will be giving your listeners the opportunity to support their local station, while discovering and enjoying new wines.

How much can my station earn?2020-04-27T12:43:44-04:00

Member Stations will receive 5% of wine club sales for as long as the customer continues to receive and pay for their quarterly club shipments. Payments to Member Stations will be made quarterly.

What do I need to do to participate?2020-04-27T12:43:55-04:00

Simply register through the program portal and your station will be assigned a unique URL you will use for all marketing efforts. You will also be provided with all the assets you need to promote the wine club—including banners, on-air scripts and email creative.

Why does my station need a unique URL?2020-04-27T12:44:07-04:00

So that wine club member sign-ups can be tracked and we can ensure you receive the royalties you are owed (please allow 7-10 business days for your station’s URL to be created).

What do people who sign up for wine club get?2020-04-27T12:44:21-04:00

The introductory offers consists of 12 bottles plus three unique, NPR-inspired wines, with the choice of an all-reds, all-whites or mixed case. Every bottle comes with a detailed tasting note that tells the story of the wine and the winemaker, as well as offering serving advice and food pairing suggestions.  There are no obligations to continue and people can skip cases or cancel their membership at any time.

How much does it cost them?2020-04-27T12:44:34-04:00

The introductory offer is 15 bottles for $79.99 (plus $19.99 shipping & applicable tax), a savings of over $160. Members then save at least 20% on future club cases. Offered quarterly, these include at least one new NPR-inspired wine and are priced at just $149.99 for 12 bottles, plus shipping and tax.  Once eligible, members also receive two extra-special shipments each year, one in summer and one around the holidays.

Who handles the customer service?2020-04-27T12:45:00-04:00

Our partner—Direct Wines Inc—takes care of everything, including customer service, through a dedicated call center number and email address.

Neil’s suggestion to call us a “partner” without including “wine” works.  Could also go the colloquial route and talk about how “Our friends at Direct Wines, Inc. take care of everything,” including, if desired, details about how we are the biggest service provider to the DTC wine industry.

How can our station market the club?2020-04-27T12:45:14-04:00

Recommended methods of marketing the NPR Wine Club are on-air, as well as through online banners, dedicated emails or placements within existing emails.  Once you register, you will get access to a library of approved marketing assets including banners and scripts.  Our experience shows that dedicated emails and on-air advertising work best.  Paid Search and social advertising are not allowed at this time.

Can our station get a list of who signed up via our link?2020-04-27T12:45:31-04:00

Absolutely. Your station will receive a quarterly membership list, including email addresses and physical addresses for those who signed up using your station’s unique URL.  Customized reporting is not available at this time.

Where do the NPR-inspired wines come from?2020-04-27T12:45:45-04:00

Wines are sourced from around the world and thoughtfully matched to their respective NPR show. New NPR-inspired labels are created regularly. Weekend Edition Cabernet Sauvignon and Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me…! Pinot Noir are just two of the many special wines that members have already enjoyed.

Besides NPR-inspired wines, where do the other wines in the case come from?2020-04-27T12:47:32-04:00

Our partner, Direct Wines Inc., works with licensees who have been sourcing wine for over 50 years. Their team of experts tastes over 40,000 wines each year, selecting less than 2%. From these top picks, they set aside wines especially for NPR Wine Club members.

Can our station get a unique label made?2020-04-27T12:47:43-04:00

We are currently unable to offer station-specific varietals or labels.
